Information for contractors

The Council requires all major commercial and residential developments in the borough to provide local employment, training and supply chain benefits during their construction phase. Commercial developments are also required to support local employment once operational.

Our dedicated construction team can support employers and contractors to meet their employment, skills and supply chain requirements.

The support available includes:

  • Advice to understand Section 106 Employment, Skills and Supply Chain targets and develop realistic plans for delivery.
  • A free recruitment service to help employers advertise and promote vacancies in the borough, with specialist construction job brokers that train and select candidates to meet the required standard.
  • Support to identify and access trusted local training provisions and to organise work experience placements and career activities with local schools.
  • Support to understand and reach out to relevant local suppliers about upcoming opportunities.
  • A Construction Forum that brings together contractors, partners and providers to collaborate on projects and enhance their social impact in the borough.
