Dagenham Library host Community Day to Support Local Residents

The Dagenham Learning Centre Community and Family Hub hosted a vibrant Community Day, bringing together charities, advice centres, partners and support groups to offer vital services to local residents. 

Running throughout the day, the event was free and open to all, creating an inclusive space for families and individuals to access guidance on key issues such as employment, energy efficiency, financial support, and independent living. 

Visitors had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives offering advice on: 

  • Employment: Job opportunities, skills development, and career progression. 
  • Energy Efficiency: Tips to reduce energy costs and usage. 
  • Financial Support: Welfare benefits and charitable grants. 
  • Social Isolation: Community projects for all ages. 
  • Independent Living: Services for disabled people, carers, and vulnerable residents. 
  • Fostering: Information on becoming a foster carer. 

The event also featured arts and crafts activities for children and refreshments, making it a family-friendly occasion. Organizers emphasized the importance of community engagement and support during challenging times. 

A spokesperson for the event said:
“Community Day is about bringing people together and ensuring everyone knows what help is available. Whether it’s finding a job, managing bills, help in being more energy efficient, or simply connecting with others, this event is here to make a difference to the Borough and its residents.”
