As part of their Social Value commitment to LBBD, Associated Installations Ltd. provided a crucial renovation to the Safe Space Hut at Beam County Primary School, ensuring its continued use as a sanctuary for vulnerable families and children.
Initially, it was considered that minor repairs were required. However, the roof was found to be in severe disrepair, requiring a complete reconstruction, including replacing rotten shingles and decking, applying protective layers, and installing new felt shingles. This restoration, valued at around £5,000 and requiring nearly 100 hours of labour, has reinstated a vital support space for parents facing challenges like mental health struggles and social isolation, as well as children receiving therapy. The school community expresses deep gratitude for this act of social value, which has restored dignity, trust, and safety for those who rely on the hut.
Tracey Whittington, Head Teacher at Beam County Primary, said:
‘This social value outcome is more than a physical improvement to our site—it is a restoration of dignity, safety, and sanctuary for some of our community’s most vulnerable members.
The leaking roof, once compromising the hut’s safety and usability, rendered a lifeline inaccessible to many of our families. Here families feel seen, heard, and supported – perhaps for the first time. For many, it is their lifeline.
Associated Installations Ltd.’s commitment has ensured that these essential services can continue. They have not just fixed a roof Associated Installations Ltd. has helped rebuild something far greater than wood or wiring: they have helped rebuild trust, connection, and safety.
Thanks to the intervention and generosity of Associated Installations Ltd, the hut is once again a place of refuge, reassurance, and renewal.’
Jamie Bell Deputy Managing Director from Associated Installation Ltd said:
‘We feel that the works completed have given the building a new lease of life and the ability for the school to be able to use this valuable space, all year round. We are always happy to help projects like this, especially when they are such a vital part of the wider community we live and work within’.
