School programmes – Construction

We work with local schools and colleges to build understanding and interest among local young people in careers in construction and the built environment – building the next pipeline of diverse talent for the sector.

Our work includes:

  • Coordinating local work-related learning and work experience opportunities in schools.
  • Supporting the Construction Youth Trust to run summer school projects to support young people begin their construction careers pathways.
  • Providing curriculum materials to training providers and schools to improve knowledge of the sector and overall careers advice.

We ask all major developers in the borough to support this activity by offering work experience placements and/or financial support for our summer school programme and associated competitions. We offer support to help contractors to identify and design work experience placements and participate in work-related learning initiatives in local schools.
